Narrated Abu Qatada bin Rib’i Al-Ansari (Radi-Allahu ‘anhu):

A funeral procession passed by Allah’s Apostle (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) who said, “Relieved or relieving?” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is relieved and relieving?” He said, “A believer is relieved (by death) from the troubles and hardships of the world and leaves for the
Mercy of Allah, while (the death of) a wicked person relieves the people, the land, the trees, (and) the animals from him.”

  4. The Sound Aspiration December 23, 2011 at 7:09 pm Reply Tweet

    Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Disengaging from this malady of materialism [that is this world] requires engaging [in] the higher purpose for which we were created, the prelude to which is sound aspiration (iraadah). What is meant by ‘sound aspiration’ is the desire to draw closer to Allah through inner struggle, or mujaahadah; in other words it is the heart’s quest for its spiritual sustenance. Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, explained: ‘The signs of sound aspiration is that the aspirant’s main concern lies in pleasing his Lord, preparing to meet Him, being grieved at the times he spent in other than his Lord’s pleasure, and regretting the missed opportunities to be close and intimate with Him. The summary of this is that day-in and day-out he has no concern other than this.’

One of the fruits of this aspiration, this ‘labour of love’, is that of being granted inner peace. The Prophet [saw], said: “Whoever makes the Afterlife his concern, Allah will gather together his affairs, place contentment in his heart and the world will come to him despite his reluctance; whoever makes the world his concern, Allah will split up his affairs, put poverty before him and nothing of this world will come to him except what Allah has written for him.” [Recorded by At-Tirmidhi]

Perhaps the profoundest fruit that arises as a result of this aspiration is being indemnified in Allah’s divine love – as the Prophet [saw] said: “Whenever Allah loves a person, He shelters him from worldliness.”[Recorded by At-Tirmidhi]

Extract: The Exquisite Pearl, Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Sa’di, pages vi-vii.

A reminder and source of reflection for myself first and foremost, and then yourselves insha’Allah.

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (Radi-Allahu ‘anhu):

Allah’s Apostle (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs.”

“…It is a disaster that your heart dies without your noticing. It is as if you say: ‘O Lord! How often I rebel against You without You punishing me for it!’

    Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu ‘anhu):

Allah’s Apostle (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “If somebody gives in charity something equal to a date from his honestly earned money -for nothing ascends to Allah except good- then Allah will take it in His Right (Hand) and bring it up for its owner as anyone of you brings up a baby horse, till it becomes like a mountain.” Abu Huraira said: The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “Nothing ascends to Allah except good.”

The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “Allah will say to the people of Paradise, ‘O the people of Paradise!’ They will say, ‘Labbaik, O our Lord, and Sa’daik, and all the good is in Your Hands!’ Allah will say, ’Are you satisfied?’ They will say, ‘Why shouldn’t we be satisfied O our Lord, as You have given us what You have not given to any of Your created beings?’ He will say, ‘Shall I not give you something better than that?’ They will say, ‘O our Lord! What else could be better than that?’ He will say, ‘I bestow My Pleasure on you and will never be angry with you after that.’ ”

Allaah says in Sooratul Baqarah (ayah 286) that He does not burden a person beyond his scope. So no matter what situation you are in, or what calamity, or trial or test you are facing, know, O servant of Allaah, that your Lord has promised that you will overcome it.

    Narrated ‘Aisha (Radi-Allahu ‘anha):
The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) prayed in a Khamisa (a square garment) having marks. During the prayer, he looked at its marks. So when he finished the prayer he said, “Take this Khamisa of mine to Abu Jahm and get me his Inbijaniya (a woollen garment without marks) as it (the Khamisa) has diverted my attention from the prayer.”

    1000 Iftaars in Masjid Al-Aqsa
    Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh
I pray you’re all well, in the best of health and emaan, aameen. I woulda made this into a blog-post thing but i lost my login details ;/ clever me huh?

Anyhow mashaAllah tabaarakAllah i had the great honour of encountering this wonderful initiative that i wanted to share inshaAllah…
Human Appeal are doing a 1000 Iftaars in Masjid Al-Aqsa Appeal that i think EVERYONE should be part of inshaAllah ta’ala!!
£4 = one persons iftaar consisting of a hot meal made from goods purchased from local businesses. So inshaAllah not only will we be sharing the reward of another Muslim’s fast and subsequent ibaadah, but we’ll also be supporting the local Muslim businesses inshaAllah.
I dunno, maybe it sounds like one appeal amongst many others you’ve come across this Ramadhaan. But for me, it was a case of realising that this is the blessed land of Jerusalem, this is Masjid al Aqsa. IMAGINE!! The only blessed place on this earth where we know ALL our blessed Prophets have prayed, led by the best of all creation, sal Allahu ‘alayhi wasallam! Allahu akbar!
[May Allah enable us all to make sajdah there one day soon, aameeeeen!]
InshaAllah here is the link for you to donate:
    http://humanappeal.org.uk/appeal-detail.html?appealid=49
Don’t just stop there, encourage your friends and family too. And may Allah increase your reward, aameen.
    Jazaakumullahu khairan
    Wasalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah
