On This Weeks News: After 30 years of iron-fisted rule, Egypt’s dictator stands down from presidency following 18 days of mass protests, the news was received by celebrations over the world, especially the Egyptians who one month ago would never have raised a voice against the ‘feared’ tyrant, let alone ousting him from power. The Arab uprising continues in Yemen and Algeria where mass protests have also taken place hoping to follow in Egypt’s footsteps. In Palestine, the chief negotiator between the Paletsinian Authority and Israel, Saeb Erekat has resigned, fulfilling an earlier promise or resignation if the ‘Palestine Papers’ was found to have been leaked from his office. The leaked papers exposed secret negotiations with the Israeli’s in which major concessions were made by the Palestinian Authority. Also, the Palestinian Authority announced intentions to hold fresh elections in Palestine after a 5 year absence. In Pakistan, arrest for Musharaf has been sought and has been called to attend court concerning Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in 2007.
