    Jazakhallah khair,

Excellent video by Shaykh Haitham. Its always inspiring listening to his words of wisdom. In times like this and particularly the events surrounding Egypt, we are looking towards the scholars for guidance. Because these protests are not a one-off nor are they addressing something small. But rather we are talking about Justice, oppression, Taghut, Freedom to Practice Islam.

We are also talking about real problems in real societies such as jobs, economies, rising food prices, corruption by the police and other civil servants, foreign policy. This is something all Islamic movement and pious people who seek to establish Islam in every aspect of their lives including public and collective aspects such as political authority – they have to address these issues.

The fact the Many Muslims are apolitical and are not interested in current affairs is saddening as Allah created mankind to be vicegerents on earth and the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH were made the leaders of the world. Politics is not just about elections and authority. Its more than that.

Like the Shaykh said – we need to be open-minded, critical thinkers, leaders who are grounded in sound knowledge according to Quran and Sunnah and understanding of society and who are prepared to take on the challenges of society with trust in Allah.
