Evil Opinions of Allaah

All Praise is due to Allaah, Lord of mankind and jinn, and may the peace and blessing of Allaah be upon Muhammad, His slave and Final Messenger.

Allaah, Exalted be He, says:

“And that thought of yours, which you thought about your Lord, has brought you to destruction, and you have become (this Day) of those utterly lost!” 1

He, Glorified be He, also says:

“And that He may punish the Munafiqoon (hypocrites), men and women, and also the Mushrikoon, men and women, who think evil thoughts about Allaah, for them is a disgraceful torment, and the Anger of Allaah is upon them, and He has cursed them and prepared Hell for them, and worst indeed is that destination.” 2

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him):

“The greatest of major sins is imagining an evil opinion of Allaah.” 3

Jabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

“I heard the Messenger of Allaah (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying three days before his death; “See that none of you dies without having good expectations from Allaah.”” 4

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allaah said:

“Allaah said “I am as My slave thinks of Me.”” 5

In another version was added;

“If he thinks good of Me, he will have it and if he thinks bad of Me, he will have it.” 6

This ‘topic’ requires a soul to ponder over it, questions may arise and these should be directed to a person of knowledge, wAllaahu a’lam.

I leave you with this to think about;

Al Hasan used to say:

“…they would say: ‘I think positively of my Lord,’ but he was lying. If he had thought positively about his Lord, he would have done good deeds.”
