Become Proactive!

Abu Umayr December 20, 2010 0

Muslims aren’t really slow to re-act, infact they do it often and they get the headlines pretty quick doing so. But pro-activeness, taking the initiative, doing things before things are done for you or doing things before you are even guided to, is something which has now become very rare within ourselves. Each one of you is blessed with abilities, talents and skills. But blessings come with conditions; Ibn al-Qayyim he mentions gratitude is the secret to securing and increasing in blessing and one of the main forms of gratitude is utilisation of the blessing for good, for the pleasure of Allaah – we can see, read, write, listen, think and subhanAllaah these are blessings we fail to recognise – yet we know if we lost these, we wouldn’t know what to do next. Each one of you can become workers, at the service of the deen – to benefit yourselves…not only the Ummah. Do not belittle what you do, you can do a lot and do not expect leaders to do things for you, do things for yourselves. Mountains are made from pebbles, and Allaah will repay all good with good. As the environmentalists say, “think global, act local”.

Shaykh Haitham delivers a very useful and much needed talk on this very topic.
