Many of us have become so worried about the recession and the budget and their impact upon our finances, livelihood and quality of living. The Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) encourages us to live the lives of travellers, to partake fully in the dunyah but to not desire it or have love for it; to work hard for our rizq but to rely upon Allaah to provide it.
New research from a non-Muslim secular think tank (i.e. those who have no hopes regarding the next life) suggests that “A single person in the UK needs to earn at least £14,400 a year before tax in 2010, to afford a basic but acceptable standard of living.”

That’s all that a person needs to be a full member of society. Family will come with additional costs ofcourse. The problem is, we don’t try and live according to our needs, we always strive to live according to our wants.
May Allaah purify our hearts from the love of the dunyah.
“Allaah does enlarge, or grant by (strict) measure, the sustenance (which He gives) to whom so He pleases. (The worldly) rejoice in the life of this world: But the life of this world is but little comfort in the Hereafter.” [Qur’aan 13:26]
“Nor strain your eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring.” [Qur’aan 20:131]
“Whatever you are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allaah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord…” [Qur’aan 42:36]
Wallaahu ‘Alam
